New Album to be released on own label

The Shins have announced that their next album release will be on Aural Apothecary (James Mercer's own label). Ian Montone (the Band's manager) said: "That partner could very well remain Sub Pop, who have done a remarkable job with the band and have a great staff of people who really love music, It could be a digital partner with respect to other rights. All of this is being determined. The first goal is to make the record and see where that takes us, and, in addition to the marketing tools we have at our own disposal, team up with a label partner that will assist with additional marketing, radio, and various costs." Pre-Order details will be available on this site soon. Watch this space!!

Newsflash

The Sacramento, California, district attorney's office ruled on Tuesday 8th January 2008 that there was insufficient evidence to pursue domestic-violence charges against The Shins' multi-instrumentalist Marty Crandall or his former girlfriend, Elyse Sewell. The pair were arrested Friday after an alleged altercation at a Sacramento hotel during which Sewell claimed in a now-deleted post on her LiveJournal page that a drunken Crandall bruised her arms and bloodied her knuckles, and that she left bite marks on him as a result of their scuffle.
